Scaling textile recycling is crucial, the Policy Hub said – Ecotextile News

The Policy Hub, a joint project from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI), Global Fashion Agenda and Textile Exchange, has published a position paper on the European Union’s (EU) proposed revision of its Waste Framework Directive (WFD).

The EU’s revised WFD, which will require all member states to run separate collection schemes for textile waste by 2025, has been hailed as a key opportunity to increase circularity in the textiles industry.

“We would like to emphasise that the revised WFD framework, through various measures should ensure the scaling of textiles recycling by 2030, which is critical to dealing with the increasing amounts of textiles waste and ensuring a market for secondary raw materials,” said the Policy Hub’s position paper.
