NextChem launches its first chemical recycling demo plant in Italy – Ecotextile News

CHIETI – NextChem, the developer and co-licensor of a proprietary chemical recycling solution, has completed the construction of its first demonstration plant in Chieti, Italy.

The site is expected to increase the volume of PET and polyester fibre recycled and, if successful, will serve as a blueprint for chemical recycling facilities across Europe. “We are very proud to have built this plant, the first of its kind in Italy and among the first in Europe, particularly at a time when national systems for the collection and recycling of textile waste are beginning to be created, in Italy and in other European countries, in order to comply with legislation”, commented NextChem CEO, Pierroberto Folgiero.

Whilst NextChem counts itself as the technology’s developer and co-licensor, it is rightfully owned by Swiss innovator Gr3n.
