The Refashion platform for connecting textiles and footwear recycling stakeholders
Fratelli Esposito, an Italian company which manages and classifies used clothing, has signed an agreement for the installation of an automatic clothing sorting line by composition and colour at its Marcianise plant. With this new installation, PICVISA, a provider of artificial vision technologies for the waste recycling industry, expands its reach in the textile sector, bringing its optical sorting technology to an important market like Italy.
The Fratelli Esposito plant in Marcianise, which already handles 100 tons of used clothing and footwear daily, is one of the most advanced in the country, equipped with state-of-the-art 4.0 automation systems. At the plant, used clothes are given a new life through a meticulous selection and regeneration process, allowing garments to be ready for reuse and sold in various markets worldwide.

In the coming months, the plant will be upgraded with the new PICVISA automatic line, designed to classify garments into 24 different categories using a dual conveyor system with the capacity to process up to two tons of clothing per hour.
