DiTex project achieved the recycling of polyester from polycotton – Ecotextile News

German innovator RITTEC has demonstrated the feasibility of chemically recycling polyester from polycotton blend fabrics as part of the DiTex research project.

RITTEC’s RevolPET solution was found to effectively process blended substrates and yield the core monomers of PET-based materials for reuse in the manufacture of virgin-grade fibres.

Carsten Eichert, managing partner of RITTEC, commented: “This is a great breakthrough for us and the textile industry. In the future, we can save huge amounts of fossil raw materials, energy and avoid waste. We are currently working with partners from the textile industry and the recycling industry to apply our technology on an industrial scale.”
