Circ to scale up textile recycling process with construction of new manufacturing plant in France.
DANVILLE – Textile recycling pioneer Circ is to build a $500 million plant in France that will be the first to scale its cotton and polyester recycling process on an industrial scale.
News of the plant follows March’s closure of a $25 million funding round which, led by sustainable investment company Taranis, with additional backing from existing investors, including Inditex and Avery Dennison, was aimed at helping fuel the push to launch its first industrial scale factory.
Circ’s patented ‘hydrothermal’ process – which uses water as a solvent – claims to recycle materials, including cotton, polyester and poly-cotton blends, into virgin-equivalent, market-grade dissolving pulp and petroleum monomers.
